Boutiques and Antiques

El Rastro, Madrid, Spain

Known as a crowded, transient flea market, El Rastro is held every Sunday and public holiday in Madrid city centre. Over 1,000 merchants sell artisanal goods, clothing, accessories, kitchenware, second-hand albums, and everything in between. Originally established in 1740, this market stretches across many different streets in Calle de la Ribera de Curtidores, with hubs in Plaza de Cascorro and two courtyards (Piquer Galleries and Nuevas Galerías), where visitors will find antique dealers, bookshops and restaurants.

It's an unforgettable place to enjoy Sunday morning. You can also have a wine glass, beer, or vermouth with tapas in one of the multiple restaurants and bars nearby! Plus, Saturdays at El Rastro, Madrid’s oldest, most traditional and most iconic leisure fair, is held on the first and third Saturday of each month (in Plaza del General Vara del Rey).

The Lanes, Brighton, UK

Just a ten-minute walk from Brighton Station, the Lanes is Brighton’s famous historic quarter. This area is known for its narrow alleyways and courtyards that include 300 independent and quirky shops and cafés that sell everything from antiques to jewellery, the city’s best food and unique clothing to seasonal produce.

Compromising two areas, the North Laine, a historically run-down area which is now a riotously colourful selection of independent businesses. The Lanes, also known as the ‘South Lanes’ are more like a labyrinth of cafes, jewellers and more restaurants. Stop by one of the many pubs for a proper British experience! It’s especially worth visiting during the summer when many restaurants open their outdoor seating and buskers fill the air with live music.
