What are your top tips for travellers for 2024, and going forward into 2025?

Make plans as far in advance as possible and consider travelling to lesser known spots and explore possibilities of interest in less developed countries as they could benefit from more competitive pricing and less crowds.

What destination are you most excited about, and why?

I get really excited about Africa and the Galapagos. These two destinations have so much nature and wildlife. Imagine being face to face with an elephant, hearing it breathe and knock its trunk into a tree. Or what about snorkelling with a sea lion, who looks you straight in the eyes? It’s completely mesmerising.

Which do you think is the one destination that travellers should know about? Why?

The Arctic! This is a very diverse area, and it encompasses all the northernmost countries (some with cities and some not as populated). Travellers can enjoy a vast array of experiences in this polar region.

What are your top tips for saving money while preparing for a trip, or while travelling?

To have done your homework ahead (and enlist the services of a travel professional) and plan out your activities and accommodations. Last minute decisions rarely end up saving you money!

What is your favourite destination to visit? Why?

French Polynesia where you can stay in an overwater bungalow AND a beachfront lanai, hop around different islands, and go snorkelling and diving to experience the marine life. Rent a private boat with a captain at least once who can take you for a snorkel, a swim, a picnic on a motu, or sunset tour.

What is your favourite thing to do where you live? Do you have any local inside tips?

Because I live near Washington D.C., I have many options. I love going for hike or a bike ride. But my insider tip, would be seeing the monuments by moonlight and planning excursions to visit some of the lesser-known private museums such as the Spy Museum or the Museum of the Bible, and not just sticking to the Smithsonians. Consider visiting during the winter season (not Christmas or New Years) and you will have the museums to yourself!

What is one local event or festive celebration you have attended and would recommend?

Seeing the Passion Play in Oberammergau (Germany) in 2022 was an amazing experience and highly recommended. Spending additional time in the area is a wonderful way to see how locals have incorporated it into their lives.
